Reflection
All these developments show that we are changing from being the ones doing the work to being the managers and checkers of AI. It’s a bit of a trap, though: as we get better at using these tools, there is a real risk we will lose our basic skills. If we use AI as a shortcut, we stop learning how things actually work, which makes it harder to catch mistakes later on. This is even worse because when AI makes something look polished and professional, we tend to stop double-checking it, even when the logic is flawed.
At the same time, these new reasoning models have made it easier to hack or jailbreak other AI. They are so persuasive that they can bypass safety rules all on their own. And if you think you’re anonymous online, think again. AI can now unmask your identity for about a dollar just by looking at your old posts. To fix this, researchers think we need end-constrained AI. These would be systems that follow moral goals but don't have the free will to change or ignore those goals later.
In the end, tests like Humanity’s Last Exam prove that deep human expertise is still something AI can't touch. But to stay safe, we have to keep our brains switched on and stay in control instead of just letting the machines run on autopilot.
